Well, I must say it's felt like forever since I was last on here but now that we are home I feel that I am finally getting back into a bit of a routine.
We LOVED Mexico! Absolutely loved it! We had a brutal flight there - as Mya was too excited to sleep until 2am.... and even then it was hit and miss. I know I can't complain too much, because my sisters flew down there with more kids - but it was pretty bad. I won't sign up for an overnight flight again if I can help it.
Once we were there, we had the lovely experience of Mexican taxi drivers - which all in all went ok. We were so happy to finally get to the place we were staying. It was an hour & half drive south of Cancun. The area was so neat in that if you were to venture off the main roads you would be surrounded by jungle! Needless to say we didn't really go off wandering.
Mya was quick to discover the sand, shells and the beach! She initially didn't like the feel of sand on her hands so she would go from sitting down in the sand to standing right up (with shovel and bucket in hand). The place we stayed at was perfect in that it had 2 private pools and our own area of beach - We ended up doing alot of laying in a hammock while the kids played in the sand. Plus I must say I love what the humidity did to her hair! It was so curly and nice - now we're back to a tangled mess ;(
Some of our family did the swim with the dolphins thing - but we decided it was too pricey for us right now, and instead watched the others do so! ;) We ate out a some fun little restaurants and all enjoyed the pina coladas! Marci's little girl Chloe (who is 6 months) even became addicted ;) I came back with a bunch of coconut cream so I can make my own tasty pina coladas!
We spent a day at Xel-ha which is a place where you pay your admission fee and it includes your meals and you go snorkeling and a lazy river raft and those kinds of things. Thank you Mom & Dad for babysitting the kids - it was so fun to go snorkeling and have some time alone. We saw some really pretty fish and the tuna under the floating bridge were HUGE!
All in all we have some wonderful memories of time spent together! We are definitely planning another warm winter get-a-way... but it will have to be in a year or 2. The rude part of the trip way flying back to Edmonton to the freezing cold weather! I'm just glad I had all our winter coats and snowsuits packed along for the trip. Thank you Liz for picking us up at the airport - We stayed a few extra days up in Edmonton at my brothers as John didn't have to work this week. It would NOT have been fun working outside when it was as cold as it was.
We're happy to be home - I'm happy not to be living out of a suitcase anymore ;)

It looks like you guys had a great time. You picked some good weeks to be away. Mya looks so cute in the pictures.
How fun! I would have loved to be warm in Mexico instead of knee deep in snow here in Iowa. Love the blog!
