It made me feel guilty and that I'm a hypocrite. I LOVE the idea of eating healthier and being active. I love to quilt & garden and support things that involve a healthy lifestyle. I like talking with others that are into those such things, as it gets me motivated to get rid of my junk food addiction & be overall healthier. Yes, addiction would probably be the right word.
Am I perfect - far from it! I'm planting a garden, have fresh herbs in my pots. I've signed up for a 5 km race, & the Cardston Kids Marathon. I've made an appointment to meet with a nutritionist. Yet do I buy white bread when I know how to make healthy whole wheat bread - yes. Do I eat junk food - yes. But I'm trying, and I guess that's the point. I feel like a hypocrite, but I don't think I am because I'm trying.
I know my friend, well, more of an aquaintance, didn't mean to say it in a bad way. Maybe she did. But it's literally made me feel quilty for a few days, and so my guilt ends here. And just in spite I'm drinking a slurpee and thinking of her ;) (Yet, I did do a 5 km walk/run on Saturday and have been exercising all week) Ok, my rant is over.
PS - I just had a baby & our house is on the market. Heaven help me!!

Oh my, what a gorgeous picture! And such cute girls. I think that other lady might just be jealous of you! Because you are in good shape and you can eat junk food too. You don't have to eat healthy all the time to be healthy. I am like that too. I love being healthy, but I also love junk food!
Andy, you are so funny. Aren't slurpees healthy? I know they are the key to my sanity, so for me, that is keeping me healthy! ;) Besides, we just had this lesson in Sunday School, and a hypocrite is a "pretender" or an actor. Someone who acts one way in front of someone but is really another way deep down. And we both know that isn't you! Silly girl! When you come up to Edmonton, we will have slurpees together and do our OWN definition of healthy!
i hate that sentiment that you are all in or nothing...like you have to eat heathly 100% or you don't care about your body.
give me a break. actually if my friend said my diet confused them i'd probably say something really rude back....
something like...."don't you have better things to think about besides what other people eat?" (see i'm mean!)
the thing is--you do know what is good for you. you also enjoy a variety of foods. being healthy doesn't mean never having a treat you love, never eating sugar, never eating processed foods. if that is the way someone wants to live, cool, but if not, that is cool too.
you are going one heck of a job raising those little girls. such darlings!
you're not allowed to feel bad about yourself if you're making your kids all their own food, running marathons, growing your OWN food, and quilting.
Sorry, you're not allowed, mostly because it makes the rest of us feel like failures!
You are my inspiration in many ways Andy! xo
All I have to say is that if slurpees were the worst thing she could find to pick apart about you, you're doing pretty dang good! :) I loved seeing you last night -- I just wish we could have visited a bit more. Love the picture of your girls! Maybe we should plan a girls night soon??
Thank you ladies - it makes me feel better hearing your thoughts! I will guiltlessly eat my junk & slurpees ;) It's been far too long seeing any of you... hopefully we can catch up soon!
Amen to what everyone just said!
ditto
you shouldn't feel guilty at all!!! ughhhh some people!! makes me mad.
good luck with selling the house.
Aren't we all entitled to have a break every now and then? You regularly eat healthy and feed your kids healthy. But it's nice to have those treats as a special thing. Do i feed my son healthy food? Yes, but i also allow him cookies or ice cream now and then so he knows they aren't necessarily 'bad' things as long as we have them in moderation. You shouldn't feel bad, you're awesome.
Good luck with the selling the house. We're in the same boat and it's killing me. The new baby/selling the house thing just isn't the way to do things, is it?
