i've been on a long hiatus. but, that's just how it goes. i've said it before on here, but on april 17th i am running the wenatchee half marathon!!!
it's been hard. it has hurt. and i'm still injured. but, there are things that have inspired me and still inspire. someone had suggested to me a long time ago, to dedicate a mile of my run to someone. or every mile.
i've chosen to dedicate my run to my sister marci's sister-in-law melissa purinton.
she doesn't know this. she doesn't read my blog. and i probably won't tell her. she's the mother of 4 boys and is still currently going through chemo for ovarian cancer. she is a huge example to me of being positive through trials.
there's alot to think about being stuck on a treadmill for hours every week, and it's been good. it's given me time to think without any other distractions.
i've thought about how years ago my dad would help a blind man run, and so together they'd run arms right next to each other. i tried doing that with my dad years ago, on a run through fish creek park - it's HARD.
i've thought of my friends brian & jerry stewart and how shortly before my st. george marathon
they disappeared on a hike/climb over in europe when a snow storm hit. they were amazing runners and so i run for them.
i run for my aunt loya who has arthritis so bad that basic movements are a struggle.
anyways, i have a lot to be grateful for. and now you know what will be going through my mind next saturday as i try to run my 13.1 miles at a decent pace, but really my goal is just to finish.
here's a pic of me half way through the st. george marathon. hopefully i'll feel that happy at the end of this race ;)
(and i'm not sure why it's being all weird with the formatting... sorry)
