good thing they're cute...

I'm glad that I could post how much I love my girls, because today they seem to be driving me crazy!! They have been fighting since they both got out of bed. I have heard my name "mom" called out WAY over 100 times today... not an exaggeration at all!! Oh well, there are bound to be these types of days.

I have had lots of fun over the last few months, which never got recorded on this little blog. So in hopes to recap I'll just touch base on some of the things. Maybe that'll make me feel better ;) Some highlights are:

I spent an afternoon learning to make bread from a lady in our ward who makes everything super healthy and all from scratch. I almost came home that afternoon and bought my own wheat grinder... but didn't. I don't think I'd make mine completely out of whole wheat but a mix of whole wheat and white flour. Either way it was so nice to learn, so that when I want to make bread or buns that they'll turn out. Now if only I had the energy to practice!

My Aunt Loya moved from one type of Nursing home to a new one that was built in town. It is great to see her feel like she has more independence and her own space. This place doesn't have the feel of a hospitalized place, but has all those amenities and help. I know she would still LOVE to be in her own home, but she can't even get out of bed & into her wheelchair without the staff using a lift. It was nice to spend our Christmas Eve over there with her. I did have to laugh when a few weeks before Christmas I got a message from her saying that she had 40 lbs. of chocolate that she had for us to come dip chocolates and nuts. Needless to say it was overwhelming and a lot of work, but I know that one day when my body gives out on my that I would hope I would have loved ones that would be willing to spend the time with me, even if it's to dip nuts, chocolates and pretzels. I see my aunt and I am so grateful for my health. She has had tonnes of health problems and has since she was my age (or younger).

We also spent the earlier part of our Christmas Eve with my Grandma Bullock. She had all sorts of treats for the girls (which they LOVED) and we had a nice visit! I see my grandma and if I can be as nimble, witty and mobile as her when I'm 93 then I'll be laughing.

Oh and what would an update be in it didn't include some false labor and the flu ;) My ob/gyn told me that she didn't think that I'd make it to 37 weeks, as at 34 weeks I was 3 cm and she could physically feel the baby's head. So, I've been taking it real easy and have actually made it past 37 weeks! Yet last week Mya had the flu, and then I got it. That left me dehydrated and the baby dehydrated, so then the contractions started. I thought that I was definitely in labor as they were coming 2-4 minutes apart and stayed that way for 5 hours. Thankfully they pumped me full of fluids and things slowed down. Yet it was good to now have everything ready and my bag is now properly filled.

I've worked on filling my freezer with some freezer meals, seeing that mom will be far away in South Africa when this baby comes. We cooked up a huge turkey so everything has a turkey substitute for the chicken. I'll attach the links later but this is what is in my freezer:
Chicken Pot Pies
Chicken Enchiladas
Rice, Broccoli and Chicken Curry Casserole
Chicken Penne & Sun-dried Tomatoes

I've also worked on a few baby blankets. They have told us that this is another girl, so we really don't need anything, but I did work on a few small quilts. The baby has to have something new right?! Here they are:

And if it's a boy, by surprise, then the next family member or friend to have a girl will get lots of blankets. Although my girls would claim some, as they are all backed with super soft minky fleece.

Anyways... this is much longer than my normal posts, and my kids are undoing any tidying that was done in the living room, but c'est la vie.

Such cute blankies! Ellie is sleeping with the one you gave her as we speak! ;) I am SO sorry about all that false labour silliness! That cannot be fun! Know that I'm thinking of you and hope this labour and delivery are both quick and painless!! Not too quick though. This is YOU we're talking about!

Andrea! I miss your face. I totally can't wait to meet your little one, so be SURE to have someone let me know when you're here so I can drop in to the hospital and see you guys! Hope everything goes well with the labor, etc, and I'm sending pain-free thoughts your way! Love ya!

Wow, you've been a busy little bee! Those quilts look SO cute! and FOUR of them?! I'm only doing one for now. We don't know what our baby is yet, so I used orange, grey, and green. Sounds kind of Halloweenish, no? Well, it's pretty cute.
I'm sorry to hear about false labor, but WAY TO GO! for getting through it okay! Good luck when the real thing comes along!
